Reflections from the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact Global Forum
18 October 2025
In October 2025 representatives from cities around the world gathered for the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact (MUFPP) Global Forum. Throughout a week over 500 delegates from 130 cities worldwide gathered to mark ten years since the pact’s creation, to reflect on a decade of collaboration and set priorities for the next steps to transform urban food systems.
Bauhaus Bites was honored to be part of part of this encounter with representatives from Birmingham, Oostade and WWF Sweden. This was an opportunity to showcase the work done from two of our project cities and take part in discussions on urban food policy and community-led innovation. Reflecting on the event, Kathy Belpaeme representing Oostade highlighted:
“Cities have a pivotal role to play in fostering a more sustainable food system, as was clearly demonstrated at the MUFPPGlobalForum.”

The Forum concluded with renewed commitments from cities to strengthen local food action over the coming decade. For Bauhaus Bites, the event was an important moment to connect with partners from across the world, share learnings and build new relationships that will support the transition to more sustainable and inclusive food systems.
“The learning gained will inform future work under Bauhaus Bites, contributing to the Bauhaus Bites Playbook — a key output that will capture tested tools, methods and innovations for other European cities.”
Sarah Newton shared as representative of Birmingham. You can read more about Sarah’s reflections on Birmingham’s experience and active role at MUFPP as part of its Secretariat here.
As Bauhaus Bites continues to support cities in co-creating climate-positive and inclusive food environments, the connections and insights gained at the MUFPP Global Forum will help advance the principals discussed in practice and strengthen the project’s impact into the wider European urban food landscape.
