Murska Sobota Kicks Off Its Bauhaus Bites Journey with a Health Day at the Primary School

17 April 2026

Earlier this month, Bauhaus Bites Twin city Murska Sobota officially launched its local activities during Health Day at the city’s Primary School I, marking an important first step for the project in north-eastern Slovenia.

Organised by local partner Centre for the Development of Sustainable Society, the event brought Bauhaus Bites into a lively full-day programme dedicated to health, movement, well-being and healthy lifestyles for children and young people. More than 500 pupils and teachers took part, alongside a strong group of local stakeholders including the National Institute of Public Health, the Health Promotion Centre, the Municipality of Murska Sobota, the Development Centre Murska Sobota, the Secondary School for Catering and Tourism Radenci, and Hiša Sadeži družbe.

Through workshops, talks, walks and practical activities, participants explored healthy nutrition, physical activity, mental health, biodiversity, local food and care for the environment. The programme showed how schools, local institutions and community actors can come together around Bauhaus Bites themes to make healthy and sustainable lifestyles more tangible, engaging and accessible for younger generations.

With this successful launch, Murska Sobota joins Palermo and Sarajevo as the third of our Twin city to kick off its local Bauhaus Bites activities.
