Sarajevo Kicks Off its Bauhaus Bites actions at the SDG Hub Orientation Day

3 April 2026

Last Friday, the City of Sarajevo held its kick-off event as part of the SDG Hub Orientation Day, organised by the city in cooperation with local partners. The event brought together stakeholders from various sectors to introduce the Bauhaus Bites project, its objectives, and the working groups that will drive the project forward. The event was dynamic and interactive, with strong engagement from participants throughout.

A highlight was the “Food Systems and Local Food” working group session, where the team presented the city’s Action Plan developed under Bauhaus Bites, including the Food Forest pilot planned for the High school “Druga gimnazija” Sarajevo. Participants learned about the concept, its planned location, and its key objectives: sustainable food production, education, and community engagement.

Session and panel discussion at the SDG Hub Orientation Day

The presentation was followed by a panel discussion, where attendees showed particular interest in the practical implementation of the Food Forest and its potential integration into Sarajevo’s broader urban context. Questions and comments reflected a strong appetite for collaboration in the next steps of the project.

With this successful kick-off, Sarajevo joins Palermo as the latest city to officially launch its Bauhaus Bites activities and the momentum across Twin cities continues to build. We look forward to seeing the Food Forest begin to grow and the energy in the room made one thing clear: there is real momentum behind this initiative!
